My old antivirus always flagged when incoming emails were scanned for viruses. Does Webroot do this automatically and only
advise if a problem is found?

WSA doesn't have a setting to actually scan incoming emails like some other anti-virus products, but rest assured if there was malware within the email, the moment it becomes active WSA will take action.
