Hi there. My name is Tom, and I work in IT for the past twenty seven years, mostly networking and PC issues. I work for a national company as a Senior PC/LAN Analyst, a position I love and look forward to working at every day. I work mostly from home with some limited travel.

I guess you can say I've finally seen the light as far as security solutions go after doing my own research. I've been using signature based solutions since the days of Norton, when Peter Norton actually made the product. I'm happy to be here.

It's true, you can tell a lot about a product by looking at the forums they host, and well, the others are chock full of issues, this place is kind of quiet and seems more like a social gathering of the geeks. And that's awesome!

I have to say this is the most friendliest bunch of people I've seen, and response times to ANY issue is jumped on almost immedietly! Also awesome.

Opening a support ticket is responded to in hours, not days or weeks as I have experienced in the past. I believe I will be here for a long, long time. I use WRSA Complete and it's just such a well made product that I have nothing negative to say about it. It's protecting my whole network of PC's and I just feel confident in my home's security with it.

Anyway, it feels good to be here (I've never said this on ANY forum!) and thanks for having me.

Hi Tom!  Again, welcome to the Webroot Community!

What a great introduction!  I am like you in that I have used Norton, McAfee, etc etc until I finally saw the light.  It took some convincing to get me to believe that this kind of solution really does work!

I have no formal education when it comes to computers, I am self taught.  I ran a small computer repair and custom build shop for a couple years, and I have done Internet and Tech Support for a small town ISP.  When I first heard about Webroot's approach I was skeptical to say the least.  Obviously I am sold on it, as I am here to just have fun and help out others.

Grab a chair and stay with us!

Hello Tom and Welcome to the Webroot Community Forums. ;)

Hi Tom....  Oh good, true confessions!  I'm not in IT.  I tried....once....a long time ago, to become a programmer, but having started with punch cards earlier....  IIRC, the language at the time I was taking classes was RPG, which to this day I can't find anyone who remembers what that was.  Except my husband.  I met him in that class.  We gave up programming together and got married instead.  Turned out to be the better decision.

Bought our first home computer about 30 years ago.  It was an Apple IIE running on Basic.  Probably went through half a dozen PC's after that before getting an iMac 5 years ago.  I was lucky along the way to run into a guy from Iowa online who was helping people upgrade to Microsoft 5 (I think) and he was helping people with bugs.  He convinced me that I wasn't going to destroy my computer if I hit the wrong key, which is when I started figuring things out on my own.  I've become the "fixer" even though I don't know what I'm doing.  I wasn't blessed with a tech mind, just dogged persistence and speed dial.  I have three kids in IT and three grandkids who run circles around me in "techland", but I'm too stubborn to ask any of them for help.  They might decide I'm over the age limit and take my passwords away.

It's good to know there are people on this forum who know what they're doing.  I'm not one of them.  So, welcome!  Glad to have you aboard.  Never know when I'm going to get myself into trouble and can use all the help I can get.  :p  Enjoy the ride!
