Hi LBeers
Error code 0x80073712, when you are trying to update your computer via Windows Update, generally means that there is a file that Windows Update needs, but it’s either damaged or missing. Therefore, Windows Update won’t be able to install the updates.
First thing to try is to download the Windows Update Troubleshooter or access it from the Settings menu, type 'troubleshoot' in the Windows Search option from the Taskbar, and pick the option (Troubleshoot Settings) presented. Then from the Settings page presented select the 'Windows Update' option and let it run.
Hopefully, that will identify and resolve the issue but if not then we are most likely into having to run the DISM tools that comes with Windows...but that is best left unless really needed.
Hope that helps?
