Hi mblonn
Welcome to the Community Forums.
Done a little research as I have not come across this one before and as a result I would recommend taking a look at this thread over at Twitter themselves, as it may provide you with some answers.
EDIT: It may also pay to clear out any temp files and caches for your browsers as there is reference to the 'issue' residing in some leftovers residing in temp files, etc.
Hope that helps?

I'm getting this message now too, when I open a new Firefox tab. I know this is a legit install, so it looks like this is indeed from Mozilla asking for donations. Interrestingly enough Mozilla has ended the sponsorship from Google, who paid to have Google be the default search. Yahoo is now the default Mozilla search, but maybe they're not paying as much as Google was for that privilege (something on the order of $500M, if I recall correctly).
Very interesting Nic. I am certainly seeing nothing of the sort when I open new tabs in Firefox...but then again I do have a couple of ad blockers active in Firefox so that is probably taking the annoying little critter out, along with the rest of the ads.
@ if flushing your bowser cache and or temp files then you could try goiing into the Add ons Manager, searching for either AdBlock Plus or AdBlock Edge (the latter is my preference) and installing one of them to see if that resolves the issue for you? Of course this will take out other ads but I presume that this will not worry you?

It could be that they are rolling it out gradually - I wasn't getting it earlier in the day when this topic was started. I'm using ad-block plus on Firefox, but that doesn't seem to block it.
thank you; I will try your suggestions.
Hi Nic
What is your home page set as, i.e., what do you first see when open a new tab? It is not, by any chance, the Mozilla Homepage?

I think you nailed it - my homepage is the Mozilla start page. Interestingly enough it only happens when opening a new window. When I open a new tab in an existing window then I get the list of most common sites that I visit (similar to Google).
Strange nothing here and really nothing to worry about! Also I use AdBlock Edge which is a little stronger then Ad Block Plus and built off of it! https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/adblock-edge/?src=search

EDIT: I have my home page set to the Community!

Ah ha...nice one. Well then, it is easy...just change the default Home Page to something like Google...that is what I do and then hopefully, voila. Besides, Google or a preferred search engin is a much better start page.

Well I would think it has to be something simple like that because I do not use ANY ad blockers at all but I have not seen any requests like that at all - yet!
Just set your home page to something else, such as the Webroot Community Forums, and you should be good to go.
Thank you all for your suggestions. My default home page is not the Firefox default however, and I don't get the message when I open a new tab. I usually have tabs left open from previous sessions. I ended up deleting the Start Page when Thunderbird opens. Now it's just blank and I don't jump over to Firefox with the Twitter site. I tried having the Start Page as CNN.com and that didn't send me to Firefox but I had been going to wstreet.com and that did. Hmmm.
I will mark this problem as closed, but I suspect if someone else has a comment, I'll get and email.
Thanks again.

Everytime I open Thunderbird I get this opening up in Chrome https://platform.twitter.com/jot.html and I have Breitbart.com as the home page. I have tried everything and it still opens the page.
You need to reset your home page and or startup page within Chrome see here: https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/95314@ wrote:

Do you have a good Ad Blocker installed? I personally use uBlock Origin
Also add a good free Ad Blocker like the ones suggested below:
For Internet Explorer Ad Block Plus: https://adblockplus.org/
For Firefox uBlock Origin: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/ublock-origin/?src=ss or Privacy Badger: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/privacy-badger-firefox/
Google Chrome uBlock Origin: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/ublock-origin/cjpalhdlnbpafiamejdnhcphjbkeiagm?hl=en or Privacy Badger: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/privacy-badger/pkehgijcmpdhfbdbbnkijodmdjhbjlgp
uBlock Origin For Microsoft Edge Browser on Windows 10: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/store/p/app/9nblggh444l4
I'm getting this in the last two weeks on several systems. I don't have Firefox installed; I use Chromium.
What I don't understand is how the default pages in Chromium could possibly affect how Tbird starts up.
I have three tabs set to open in Chromium when it starts, and I have a custom page set to come up when Tbird starts. Where is it getting this jot.html from?

That can't be it: I don't have Firefox installed, just Chrome (under Linux Mint).
It only started happening recently, probably some update to Thunderbird. It opens a blank Twitter page everytime I start Thunderbird. I see some pages saying it's the RSS feeds, but I don't have any: I just use Tbird for email.
It's a royal PITA and the Thunderbird folks should be ashamed of themselves.

Hah. Fixed. Just add
127.0.0.1 platform.twitter.com
to your /etc/hosts file (on Unix and GNU/Linux systems, including Mac OS 😵. Windows, I don't know how that resolves addresses. But this resolves it to your local host, so it never pops up.
