Ignore this? McAfee pop ups telling me I have a virus

When I boot my computer in the morning I get all kinds of virus warnings, note my McAfee has expired (I never had it) and click here to subscribe and clean my computer. I run Webroot and it doesn’t find a thing. Do I just ignore the McAfee warnings? Is it just trying to scare me? (it has) I thought I was protected. Do I ignore it or subscribe. Isn’t that what Webroot is supposed to protect me against.

Thanks

Darryl

Hello @DarrylWeiss

First thing you need to uninstall anything related to McAfee as it’s very hard to uninstall all of it. Also when do you get the Pop-Ups only when the Browser is open or anytime?

Info to remove McAfee: https://www.mcafee.com/support/s/article/000001616?language=en_US

The best thing to do is contact Webroot support via the Ticket system as they can check a simple scan log and if they find anything they will help you remove it free of charge because you have a paid subscription. https://www.webrootanywhere.com/servicewelcome.asp

If it’s in the Browser only then look for a good Ad Blocker and there are many free ones from the Browsers web stores.

Thanks,
