Windows 10 Fall Creators Update / VMWare Could not get snapshot information: Insufficient permission

Hi,   This is affecting me, as well as others that work with VMware and use Webroot. Deactivating Webroot resolves the issue, which is why I would like to document this in this forum, just in case others are also having this problem.   If you install the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update Build 1709, and have VMWare (14.0 / 12.5.x) installed, before you update to Windows 10 Build 1709 VMWare works fine, after you upgrade to Windows 10 Build 1709 you are no longer able to start any virtual machines. Directories used by VMWare are locked in such a manner that VMWare is no longer able to access the directories.   The reported error is Could not get snapshot information: Insufficient permission to access the file. Module 'Snapshot' power on failed. Failed to start the virtual machine.   Here a link to the VMWare forum decribing the issue in more detail:

Question: Is Webroot SecureAnywhere a Full Anti-Malware or just an AV?

I'm just looking for Community input and how they regard WSA as a Full Anti-Malware or just an Anti-Virus. We know that WSA is designed to work with other AV's and other AM's so give us your feedback and lets keep it on topic and not get into details of other products as this is the Webroot forum. Like ProTruckDriver uses WSA with MBAM and I use WSA alone with Look'n'Stop Firewall as it was a one time payment. Thanks, TH ;)

Using multiple malware and anti virus software

I have read through the posts and don't see one that addresses my particular question. My brother has used Norton 360 for years and says it is well worth the cost. I also paid for but had the download expire on Malwarebytes. If I have Webroots, do I need other programs as well to make sure my devices (Amazon Fire 8 tablet, Moto 4G phone, and old, on its last legs Dell PC) are protected?

Surface Laptop 2 Continues to Crash Regularly

I’m using Windows 10 Home and my Surface Laptop 2 continues to crash, sometimes every couple hours. Microsoft has sent me on all sorts of diagnostic trails short of reimaging the machine. Microsoft is now advising me that Webroot may be the cause of the problem, that I should remove the program and depend solely on Windows Defender for protection. Before I do that, what do you think?

Anitvirus possible blocking camera on my suface pro

I am trying to use my webcam on my new surface pro.  I receive an error that Microsoft cannot locate my camera.  One possible explanation given is my antivirus program is blocking the camera.  Has anyone dealt with this situation?

utorrent permission to work

Carbonite not working...

I am going to ask this question here, because whenever I try and ask a question on Carbonite’s support page, I get a pop up that says, “Your case was unable to be submitted at this time due to an error. Please try again or contact us through chat or phone between the hours of 9:00am and 8:00pm ET (excluding U.S. holidays). We apologize for any inconvenience.” It seems there is ALWAYS an error on this site, and I can never get a question submitted for an answer. Not impressed here. Do the people at Carbonite support know abhor this? Anyway...I recently migrated my M1 Mac to an M2 Mac, migrating everything over to the new machine. I have formatted the old machine and gaven it to someone else, so no longer are running Carbonite on that machine. When Carbonite tries to run, it stays on “connecting” for a long time, finally saying "Your account has been disabled."My account expires in 38 days, and is set to auto renew (although I am reconsidering that right

How to stop pch.com from slowing down and freezing my computer when playing games on their site?

When playing games on pch.com website (I am hooked on the word games), it slows down my entire computer. Even typing in a search window, it will be seconds between typing each letter. Sometimes it just freezes. I try running a scan, but it doesn’t find whatever it is that is slowing it down. I thought it was Firefox, so switched to Chrome, and at first it didn’t happen, but a day or two later, it started doing it again.

When I try to download now, I get a pop up box with message "Internet Shortcut Shell Extension DLL, Microsoft Corp.  It does not allow me to access what I need but just keeps popping back up if I click on it.  Does anyone know what that is and what I should do about it?  Thanks!

Firefox update V. 57 disabled Webroot Filtering Extension (& other things that did not meet their new standard)

This morning, when I opened Firefox and surfed to a website, I received a warning about add-ins being disabled. Among several others was this: "Find a Replacement" was useless as it was not specific to the issue. Solution?

Received notice from Firefox that they were disabling all Add-ons that don't meet "current Firefox standards", & those items are now missing. They include a very important one: Webroot Filtering Extension, which also means I don't get the green checkmarks on Bing & Google search engines, for safe links. Firefox is my preferred browser. I don't trust IE for privacy issues, & the last 4 times I D/Led & set up Chrome, it came with some malware--haven't tried it in several years. I don't want to stop using Firefox, but neither do I want to lose Webroot's Filtering Extension. Is there ay other solution besides to stopusing Firefox till Webroot jumps through the hoops Firefox is requiring? Leslie

Yahoo email reports "No Internet Connection" after Webroot scheduled scan.I have a Webroot scheduled scan set up for 3:00PM EST everyday.At that precise time my Yahoo email account pops up a message “No Internet Connection” and I cannot get anymore email. The message is not correct because I have other tabs open and I still have internet connectivity. (BTW: If I start a manual scan this problem does not happen).I am using Firefox - the only workaround that I have found is to got to the Firefox Settings->Privacy & Security->Cookies and Site Data->Manage Data then search for “Yahoo” and remove them.This will cause Yahoo to ask me to login again. Once I do that then Yahoo email works again.Why is the Webroot scheduled scan causing Yahoo to drop my email connection??

The splash screen that indicates Webroot Secure Anywhere is active keeps reappearing. I’ve restarted PC several times. Still keeps happening. Any suggestions?\I would ignore it, but the splash screen becomes an active window and interrupts whatever I’m doing.. Thanks

Disclaimer: I’ve performed the tests only on MacBook Pro 15" 2015 with macOS 10.15.4. I turned off all excess bluetooth devices during the tests. The trackpads were half charged. Is it dangerous to let a company get into my computer?

I let Restoro get into my computer yesterday. They said I had over 1270 error and warning messges, a Trojan Horse and Malicious Malware. They said I had to pay more than the $29.75 to have all the problems removed. I’m worried I should not have had them in my computer. Can they steal my identity?
