Hello Everyone.

Today when I started my computer, I got this Message Indicating that There is a file or folder on your computer called C:Program" which could cause certain apps to not function correctly. Renaming it to C:Program1 would solve this problem.
I did go to my C Drive and I notice there is Program there as a File and the size of it is: 748Kb, and Date Modified is was 6/7/2014

I did go to Add Remove programs and I noticed  Webroot Secure Anywhere is showing Installed on  6/7/2014 and it is also 748Kb size.

I did Restarted my computer and I got the same message to rename it to Program1. And I did click OK. now I don't see that Error message again, and the Program file is renamed to Program1.

I Installed Webroot Months ago not yesterday.  Why is it showing that it is installed on 6/7/2014
Is Baldrick Available ?
Thank you very much.

Hello @  and welcome to the Webroot Community!

For starters, could you let us know what operating system you're running?

Although I do not have anything on my system called C:Program, I did notice that in Add / Remove Programs, WRSA is showing an install date of 6/7/2014 748KB Version 8.0.4.73.  This might be due to the automatic updates of WRSA, but I don't want to venture into uncharted waters.

I would suggest contacting Tech Support Open a Support Ticket

Let us know what happens.

jpasternack is correct: the current version was released on 6/7.  Remember, WSA is NOT a traditional AV that downloads massive files to update: it essentially uninstalls itself and re-installs with the new version, that little 747kb file.

I am guessing you enabled the option to randomize the installation location during initial install, or manually had changed it.  This makes it harder for those 'smart bugs' that seek out any resident AV to disable them prior to beginning thier really nasty work.  My own computer around  6 months or so ago WSA installed itself to C:Program just as yours did...  I ended up needing to change the install directory of WSA due to the same reason.

I believe I installed the Webroot automatically as recommended.

I did check,  and It is in C / program files / webroot, and There are Two files. One is called  WRData, and the other one is Webroot Icon which is called  WRSA.

Thanks.

Yes those two file paths are correct, as for the random name it can be due to either an pre existing infection or if there was a damaged installation of Webroot already on the PC. I would advise doing an clean uninstall/reinstall and making sure NOT to import your old settings.

Roy is absolutely correct. I had faced that warning message a couple of years ago when I was using Win 7. It was due to a messed up file path of a program called RealPlayer. I could only get rid of the message by going to Safe Mode and removing the file paths.

Anyways, after following Roy's instruction I would suggest a scan by WSA to rule out the possibility of an infection. No worries.:)

There is no need to use the CD: as soon as it installs it will need to download the current version anyway.

Write down your key code
Uninstall WSA while you are connecred to the internet
Reboot
Download the current version from the links below (If yours is a Best Buy Subscription copy, use that link)
Run the file, and use the current key code you wrote down above.

:-)

By uninstalling it while connected to the internet, it will automatically release the license seat so you will not need a new license.
