Can I use Webroot to check an attachment in an email?
The attachment is a .jpg from an unexpected source. If I can't check it in the email, what would the best procedure; save .jpg to external USB hard drive and check drive with webroot?
Unless I am mistaken, moving a file is fine as long as you do not try to run or open it. Therefore, you can save the file to a location of your choosing, then use Webroot to scan it after you have downloaded.
One thing I will add though, if you do not know the sender it is probably a phishing email.

Its from a known colleague that I haven't communicated by email before. I will likely delete unless i specifically hear from somebody that says that .jpg in emails are safe.
+56Do as Cohbraz said save the Attachment to your Download folder then Right click on it and Scan with Webroot and make sure it is a.jpg file by hovering over it and if it shows something different or if WSA says it's bad don't open it or if not open it.
