Windows 10 (laptop) external audio port 3.5 mm not working

any suggestions.  The internal speaker system works but the 3.5 mm port not working.

Also the usb works with headset.

I work with audio equipment a lot so I can give you a few ideas:

  1. Make sure it’s not the audio cord by attempting to use it with multiple devices. Try at least 2-3 diff 3.5mm cords
  2. After putting a cord in, wiggle the 3.5mm cord very slightly to see if the jack is wiggling/loose
  3. go to Device manager and see if there’s any exclamation points under audio devices
  4. Update your audio drivers: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4028443/windows-10-update-drivers
