My computer said my accounts were “out of date”. I followed the instructions, verifying my settings, then got a Google box wherein I had to agree to let Google read, change, delete, etc. Since it was a Google logo, and I was given no other option, I suspiciously and reluctantly agreed. Back to reading my emails. Two emails I wrote months ago were in my inbox as new emails. Also was a Google email asking me to verify it was me who agreed, and giving me a n option to undo and then set a new password. I called my husband. He had also gotten an old email he had written that said I sent it. We called GEEK squad. They said run Webroot. Webroot says NO threats. GEEK squad can go in to clean for $99.

My question...can we trust that we have not been scammed and given hackers permission to enter and use data? Should we pay GEEK squad to find out?

Hello @Virginia Nixon

Not sure as to what you really did but it sounds like a Phishing scam but it’s hard to say: https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-d&q=Phishing+scam
