Thought I would just post some stats from my ad-blocker. Just shows how much ad-traffic you run into when browsing, my home PC stats are even higher. I have nothing against ad's per say but I have noticed that browsing without an adblocker is getting to the stage where its unusable.

I can't agree more. The idea of Internet ads is unfortunately a necessary evil on the web. Most information sites rely almost 90% on ad revenue.

I have a fast system at home with a semi-fast Internet connection speed of 30bps.

I myself periodically wipe cookies and turn off all ad blocking and surf and it is almost impossible to so.

When I do this I find the pages take FOREVER to load, due completely to ads which use Flash and similar attention getting methods. However when I turn on Ad blocker things change immensely. CNN for instance with ads active can take 10-12 seconds to load the main page. Without Ads the time is like 1/2 a second.

I myself use Firefox because I prefer the open source of it and the raw speed is undeniable. Add to that the Superb addon AdBlockPlus and it just screams. Google Chrome used to be amazing on how fast it worked but recently Google has started throwing more and more ads into the mix making it not much better then IE.

Overall a great post and observation which we have all been witnessing but usually just say screw it and go about our day as normal. What would be interesting is other comments on what browser they use and what extensions they use to combat this annoyance. What do ya think?
Two examples from one of the sites I like to visit:

No adblock or cookies:

Now without any addons:

Hurrah lots of ads for broadband! Took twice as long to load and the CPU load is up due to lots of Flash Crap. Its also judders when your scroll if your PC isnt the best.

I just figured I would test this for giggles and look who is advertising on CNN. Personally I think this is beyond funny with what we were just talking about.
