My mouse will not work anywhere now, yes I do still use it even though I have windows 8, but all of a sudden it just has stopped on most things but not all pages, is this a virus?

That's strange that it works in some places but not others. The first thing I'd suggest ruling out is the hardware. Do you have another mouse (or one you can borrow) that you can swap out to see if it is the hardware or something else?
