RadioShack (RSH) shares plummeted more than 30% Thursday on a report that the company could file for bankruptcy protection reportedly as soon as next month.
The embattled consumer electronics retailer is in talks with a private-equity firm that could buy its assets out of bankruptcy, according to The Wall Street Journal, which cited sources familiar with the people familiar with the matter.

Oh, that's a shame...I remember, in my youth, when they were over in the UK...now replaced with Maplins...I have many a memory of scurrying into my local one and purchasing 'bits' to make things with or repair electronic items...well, before the micro chip became all powerful and accessible to all.
Their spending all that money on Superbowl ads couldn't have helped 🙂

The nearly-century-old struggling retailer is currently in talks with Sprint to sell half of its store leases and then close the remainder, according to Bloomberg. That could result in no more RadioShack locations existing, or the two companies could co-brand the stores, the news agency reported.
“RadioShack has no comment on the Bloomberg report and has not confirmed any of the information that is being reported,” an unnamed RadioShack spokesperson told Ars. A spokeswoman from Sprint, Roni Singleton, wrote to Ars to echo the sentiment. "We have no comment, but thanks for checking."

Paying Weird Al scale for those Holiday commercials is what bankrupted them.lol.I remember a time when they were the only game in town for geeks like myself that liked to tinker and build cool things.With the advent of the internet,they have kind of become irrelevant.There used to be a Radio Shack in every mall which made it convenient,even in this day and age.I remember computer lab in grade school using Tandy computers.I think i knew more about them than the teacher.Radio Shack used to be a great place for the curious and inquisitive child.It will be missed.http://ts1.mm.bing.net/th?id=HN.608001639665765604&w=177&h=106&c=7&rs=1&qlt=90&pid=3.1&rm=2
