Sky Go and Now TV heading to PS4

by Katie Collins

Sky and Sony have today announced a partnership that will see Sky Go and Now TV land on the PlayStation 4. PS4 owners will be able to access Sky's pay-as-you-go Now TV service from this summer with Sky Go becoming available to both PS3 and PS4 owners later in the year. Now TV is already available on PS3, and has been since last summer. It allows non-Sky subscribers to pay for monthly or daily passes to some of the broadcaster's most popular services, including Sky Sports, Sky Movies and Sky Entertainment.

"NOW TV has been a great addition to the PlayStation 3 entertainment portfolio, so bringing it to the new PS4 is going to delight all users of the newest, most powerful member of the PlayStation family. Sky Go joining both PlayStation platforms further enhances our credentials as the ultimate gaming and entertainment package", said Sony's UK VP and MD Fergal Gara, in a statement. Increasingly, companies such as Google, Roku, Amazon and even Sky itself are producing boxes and dongles that allow people to equip their existing televisions with similar features to a smart TV. But if you already have a Sony console in your lounge, you'll now be able to run the Sky packages straight through it without the need for yet another device, which also frees up an extra HDMI port on your telly.
