Slow startup & computer makes ping noises like it's trying to access a program all the time??

Hi, My computer is acying funny. It makes ping noises & is slow to start-up & operate. How do I fix?

    Funny pinging noises - do they sound mechanical or electronic?  If they sound mechanical then it could be an imminent hard drive failure.  If it's electronic then it could be something in the BIOS that is having problems.  Either way, I'd recommend taking it to a local computer shop for a checkup.
