Here’s an excerpt of the Microsoft blog post where the company states that Windows 10 will “remain activated” for Insiders – even if they clean install Windows 10:

As long as you are running an Insider Preview build and connected with the MSA you used to register, you will receive the Windows 10 final release build and remain activated. Once you have successfully installed this build and activated, you will also be able to clean install on that PC from final media if you want to start over fresh.

Now, Microsoft has updated its announcement blog post quietly and removed some important phrases from the blog post. Here’s the same excerpt from the updated blog post:

"As long as you are running an Insider Preview build and connected with the MSA you used to register, you will receive the Windows 10 final release build. Once you have successfully installed this build, you will also be able to clean install on that PC from final media if you want to start over fresh. It’s important to note that only people running Genuine Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 can upgrade to Windows 10 as part of the free upgrade offer."

That clears up alot of speculation on the blog. I'm still curious on how they are going to deal with Windows 10 and the activation codes. An insider can install a fresh install using the code they received, for the moment. However the blog also states that only active 7 & 8 users will be able to install a fresh copy of 10 when the media is released. Now the question is with what code? 7 & 8's code? Are they going to release a fresh code for 10 and if so will they kill the old 7 & 8 code?

And I know it is premature but when they release SP1 for it will they screw up the codes like they did with 8.1?

Lots of questions and little time till July 29th. This is starting to get interesting and although I doubt it will happen I also wouldn't be completely shocked that they delay the launch.
