I made the mistake (evidently) of updating my Webroot via an email from Best Buy. They took the payment, but I received only a scare receipt in the an email. I need to have the Key Code of the updated software I bought, in order to update the expiration date on the software. Guess I'll go to the store tomorrow and see what they can do. I do know that next year I will go to the webroot site in order to update.
How do I get the expiration to update, once I pay for my Webroot at Best Buy's website?
Best Buy wil not charge your card until the day your Webroot account expires. Sometime in the evening or even at night, your account will update if the charge is successful.
For the last month, your Webroot software will turn yellow and have a large exclamation warning you your software will expire soon and urge you to renew. This will happen even if you have already updated your credit card info. Ditto, even if you call Best Buy. They will assure you that your account is safe and Webroot is working fine. They say you also get a 30 day grace period after your software expires.
On the last day, webroot will turn red, and will tell you your account has expired and you are at risk. If you are like me, you will freak out and call Best Buy and they will assure you all is well and that you have a 30 day grace period. If you're like me, you probably won't use your computer that day, because the software is red and has a dire warning. But it will be fine.
I have been through this twice so far. Or was it three times.
I kind of like the way Webroot does the updates. If you renew early, they will charge your card immediately and then update your account, adding the new amount to what ever days you have remaining.
On the other had, the Best Buy subscription gives you the optimizer. But with the Webroot version, you have to buy Complete to get it.
But either way, you get the full subscription you paid for. Norton used to urge you to renew early, but it the fine print, it said that you forfeited any days you had remaining on the original subscription. I think they may have stopped that practice.
