Hi lighthouse3,
Welcome to the Webroot Community,
To be honest I have never had this question before. I do not use Silverlight. So I cannot say. But Webroot will protect you just the same.
Maybe ? has something to say here. Or ??

Are you talking about this? https://www.microsoft.com/silverlight/
It's not related to Webroot, and it's not security software, so the two are completely independent and unrelated.

Indeed, Silverlight was Microsofts attempt at a "development tool for creating engaging, interactive user experiences for Web and mobile applications" which did not really take off or catch on...to be honest I do not think that there is any reason to install it or worry about it.
If your concerned that Exploits might come through Silverlight not to worry as WSA will react to the payload if it tries to download and infect your system.

Lighthouse,
Quote from Wikipedia "Microsoft Silverlight is a deprecated application framework for writing and running rich Internet applications, similar to Adobe Flash. "
This program is no longer used for most web based applications and is similar to Adobe's Flash Player.
Silverlight has had a history of vulnerabilities which have allowed hackers to execute arbitrary code on the vulnerable system once a exploit embedded site is visited.
You can uninstall it, as Webroot does not require it to function.
