Lost internet connectivity
My HP laptop with 8.1 windows will no longer enable connection with the internet. The computer says I am connected to the internet. I can ping the modem but I still have no internet connection. I would much appreciate any advise on how to reconnect to the internet. I have WebRoot Security Plus. Is it possible the computer has a virus?

I wold also try unplugging the router for few seconds, then plug-in and retry it.

Thank you Dermot 7. I now have internet access. When I purchased the computer last spring at Best Buy, it came with brief coverage by McAfee anti virus. I purchased WebRoot immediately and dd not delete the short term McAfee. Now that I have deleted McAfee, I have internet connection once again.
