Just re-installed Windows 8.

Installed Webroot, but neither password manager or web filtering extensions installed in any of my browsers (IE 10 and Firefox 46.01). I used {8ac62a8b-8b3f-43ba-9b1a-90c299b9dfda}.xpi to install password manager in Firefox. I tried running the toolbarfix, but it won't download "unable to download files" error message.

Last time this happened when the browsers updated. At that time I used the {8ac62a8b-8b3f-43ba-9b1a-90c299b9dfda}.xpi to install pw into Firefox, but was unable to make any further progress. (same as my current condition).  But a few days later (nothing I did) passsword manger and web filtering installed in IE, and web filtering installed in Firefox (magically on their own).

So, this time I waited, but no magic this time.

I tried uninstalling and re-installing.

I have Protected Mode enabled in IE, could this be a problem?

Hi NBoy

I would certainly try disabling Protected Mode, and seeing if that is a factor in the issue you are reporting.

Disabled protected mode in IE.  Uninstalled WR, Restart, and re-installed WR.

Password manager is in Firefox (from my previous manual install), but web filtering exptension is not. And neither is installed in IE.

toolbarfix still shows error "unable to download files".  I disbaled my firewall and tried, but still toolbar fix can't downliad files.

Any ideas?

I just tried to download the Toolbarfix utility and had no issues. It may be the link that yo are using so try to download it from here.

There is a manual workaround to get the Filtering Extension into Mozilla-based browsers...let me know if yo would like to try it.

Downloaded the new toolbar.fix and ran with same results "unable to download necessary files".  Firewall.log shows no blocked connections.

There is a manual install for web filtering in Forefox?
Well, I have never come across the "unable to download necessary files" issue before so I would recommend that you Open a Support Ticket to let the Support Team know...I am sure that they will either know what needs to be done in the circumstances or will want to investigate.

In terms of the manual install for Mozilla browsers please see this KB Article that describes the process. Don't worry about the fact that it refers to Palemoon...the method works for all Mozilla based browsers. But also note that this is an unofficial approach that is not support by Webroot Support...so you may want to try it once you have contact Support and if you still have the issue thereafter.
