After installing Webroot I cannot print; I get error 0x8007045b. I have tried every remedy available.
Hi ParaProTpa

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Given what you are saying I would recommend that you uninstall WSA & then clean reinstall it to see if the issue is down to a faulty install. If you would like to try this the please follow the steps below closely!

  • Make sure you have a copy of your 20 Character Alphanumeric Keycode! Example: SA69-AAAA-A783-DE78-XXXX
  • KEEP the computer online for Uninstall and Reinstall to make sure it works correctly
  • Download a Copy Here (Best Buy Subscription PC users click HERE)
  • Uninstall WSA and Reboot
  • Install with the new installer, enter your Keycode and do NOT import any settings if offered by the installer; to as you can set it up as you like once it's done
  • Let it finish it's install scan
  • Reboot once again
Now try your printer agian and let us know how you have gotten on.

Thanks for your response. I will try your instructions and let you know the results. Since this software is for one computer only, assuming only one install, are you sure I will not encounter a problem when entering the keycode a second time? Just to confirm, I should uninstall, download the copy, and since I purchased my software from Best Buy, I should click on the option for the Best Buy Subscription? I don't have a Best Buy Subscription. I purchased the software from their store and installed it at home. After uninstalling the present version, I should not turn off my PC, and should then install from the downloaded version, and then reboot? What is different in the version I will be downloading? Is a printing problem after installation something that happens often with the software? I am really bummed about all of this. I have been trying to print for a week now with no remedy. I have never had this kind of problem.
Hi ParaProTpa

OK...here goes:

1. Since this software is for one computer only, assuming only one install, are you sure I will not encounter a problem when entering the keycode a second time?

I have done this a number of times and you should be fine with this.

2. Just to confirm, I should uninstall, download the copy, and since I purchased my software from Best Buy, I should click on the option for the Best Buy Subscription? I don't have a Best Buy Subscription. I purchased the software from their store and installed it at home.

Yes. you should uninstall & download the latest installer. If you purchased the Webroot standard version from Best Buy you should use the PC link, but if you purchased the Best Buy version then you should use the Bets Buy link.

3. After uninstalling the present version, I should not turn off my PC, and should then install from the downloaded version, and then reboot?

I would uninstall, reboot and making sure that you are connected to the internet & have your key code to hand, run the newly downloaded installer.

4.  What is different in the version I will be downloading?

You will have the latest version of WSA. Uisng the current version of the installer that you have may install an older version which would then need to be updated.

5. Is a printing problem after installation something that happens often with the software?

Not as far as I am aware but sometimes.

6. I am really bummed about all of this. I have been trying to print for a week now with no remedy. I have never had this kind of problem.

If the uninstall/reinstall does not work then we will look at something else to see if we can sort it for you.

I purchased the following from Best Buy in a box labled "Webroot Secure/Anwhere, 2 year protection, Internet Security Plus". In all the small print on the bottom open/close tab, I see it says "2006-2015 Webroot, Inc.", so what you are saying is that the software I purchased is outdated .. that there is a newer version now that we are half way through 2016, that what you are telling me to download is a newer version? This is nuts. I will never purchase software again without reading every inch of the box. I am still reluctant to uninstall what I installed since it is for one PC only, one install. Can't I just  update what I already have installed? I am not computer illiterate and uninstalling and reinstalling a licensed software that is only good for one PC, one install, seems wrong. I could waste the money I spent on this software. I appreciate your help, and instructions, but just not sure right now how I will handle this. I do know that the virus software helped my PC extremely; it works like a charm now; but the printing problem I encountered after the installation is ridiculous, andnot being able to remedy my problem without all this hassle is just wrong.
Hi ParaProTpa

1. I purchased the following from Best Buy in a box labled "Webroot Secure/Anwhere, 2 year protection, Internet Security Plus".

As I understand it Best Buy sell the Webroot standard version as well as their own version of WSA. If there is a keycode stuck to the back of the box the software came in then I believe that you have the Best Buy verison but if not then it is the standard Webroot version.

2. In all the small print on the bottom open/close tab, I see it says "2006-2015 Webroot, Inc.", so what you are saying is that the software I purchased is outdated .. that there is a newer version now that we are half way through 2016, that what you are telling me to download is a newer version? This is nuts.

No, this is not 'nuts' Webroot operate a subscription service and also a policy of continual improvement so as such there is really no 'calandar' version but rather users are entitled to download/be updated automatically to the latest version as long as they have an active subscription.

You are not being cheated or the like. Most likely the packaging of the box you bought was printed in 2015. Any printed in 2016 will say...'2006 - 2016' on them.

3. I am still reluctant to uninstall what I installed since it is for one PC only, one install. Can't I just  update what I already have installed? I am not computer illiterate and uninstalling and reinstalling a licensed software that is only good for one PC, one install, seems wrong.

As I stated before you have nothing to fear by uninstalling/reinstalling...the act of uninstalling does not invalidate your license...as you have a subscription for a year you may uninstall/reinstall your copy on the same system as many times as you want to. I regulalrly uinstall/reinstall my copy of WSA; some times as often as once a week, and have never had a problem reinstalling & activating it.

4. I could waste the money I spent on this software.

No, you will not, I can assure you of that.

5. I appreciate your help, and instructions, but just not sure right now how I will handle this.

You are most welcome, and this is one of the things that the Community exists for.

6. I do know that the virus software helped my PC extremely; it works like a charm now; but the printing problem I encountered after the installation is ridiculous, and not being able to remedy my problem without all this hassle is just wrong.

Whilst I don't disagree with you no software is 100% reliable...and occassionally the installation my be faulty...what we are trying to do is to remove that possible variable from the 'mix'.

Hope that helps further?
