WSA Internet Security Plus is blocking the installation of the latest Waterfox on both my computers, claiming it contains malware and has quarantined a handful of files. It does the same if Waterfox is downloaded direct or from Majorgeeks. This cannot be correct surely, so has anyone else had this or uses Waterfox and can let me know. Thank you.

I had the same problem and found the Waterfox woud not connect to many sites, including DuckDuckGo. I have since downloaded Firefox 48 (64) and now I have no problems.

I just downloaded Waterfox from Major Geeks - using the Authors Website link and had no trouble. Using it now in fact. Maybe try that link instead of the Major Geeks link. It sounds as if the version you're trying to install may contain additional files/apps as can happen when using a source other than the author's site.

If I may just add to the excellent advice provided by BD...what is causing the issue is the detection by WSA of a non-malware program we commonly refer to as a PUA or Potential Unwanted Application.
A little background information: These are very annoying at best in that they cause pop-ups, redirect your browser home page, and other behaviour that may slow down the computer and direct ads your way, but they are not actually doing anything bad like damaging files or stealing information. Often they are installed intentionally by you the user as browser add-ons for various tasks such as quick search tools. But they also come with the result of added annoying pop-ups and ads. Other times they 'piggy back' with other software that you installed, or try to 'sneak' onto your system entirely.
The key to avoiding them is to make sure that when downloading apps one does so from the author's own website or one that they have recommended, and not 3rd party downloading site, as advised by BD in his post.
WSA does detect and remove many PUA's, and more are being added, but WSA does not detect all of them. A simple browser add-on with PUA behaviour that is easy to identify and easy to remove is not likely to be detected and removed by WSA. Those that are intentionally difficult to locate and remove are. Please see THIS LINK for more information regarding Webroot's stance on these annoying programs.

Thanks folks for replies. I have downloaded six times from author, major geeks and author site, and Filehorse, the two aggregate sites state no add ins on their sites.
Tried installing with and without WSA but once reinstalled, the installation was blocked every time. Cleared all Firefox profiles- blocked. This on two computers. If I make exceptions it w ill of course install.
Never had any problems with several previous versions of Waterfox and WSA before, and no noise on Internet about it either.
I will give BDs advice another go tomorrow when I get time. Most odd!!

The best bet is to Open a Support Ticket, notifying the Support Team, and getting them to check this out. They may well find that you are seeing a false positive and can investigate and if it is incorrect then they can whitelist the file in question in the Webroot Cloud which should then allow the download.

So obviously there was nothing bad about Waterfox, so I set WSA to 'monitor' the files it had quarantined, and then version 48 installed fine and ran normally. It has since updated to 48.0.1 without any fuss at all. Thanks to all who replied.
