Was just looking thru some of the settings for Firewall/Web shield in advanced settings and I noticed that the box for Web filtering driver was NOT checked by default.

Was curious as to why it wouldn't be and are there any disadvantages / drawbacks to having it enabled?
Not sure why it wasn't checked by default but it should be enabled as it helps to show bad web pages in Microsoft Edge browser and gives extra support for the supported browsers!

Browser:

  • Google Chrome®️ 11 and newer
  • Internet Explorer®️ version 11 and newer (Windows XP IE8)
  • Microsoft Edge®️ (partial support)
  • Mozilla®️ Firefox®️ version 3.6 and newer
  • Safari 5 and newer
  • Opera 11 and newer
HTH,
I use Chrome. Is there any impact on the system as far as speed?

It should be enabled and I have not seen any reports of any slow downs because of it nor have I seen any slow downs personally! https://docs.webroot.com/us/en/home/wsa_pc_userguide/wsa_pc_userguide.htm#UsingFirewallProtectionWebShieldProtection/ChangingFirewallWebShieldSettings.htm%3FTocPath%3DUsing%2520Firewall%2520%252F%2520Web%2520Shield%2520Protection%7C_____2

Enable Web Filtering driverProvides additional protection against malicious connections and in cases where the browser extensions are disabled.

This checkbox is selected by default, which is the setting we recommend.
Thanks
