I keep seeing waiting for webroot extension in my chrome browser these few days on both my notebooks. It is slowing down my browsing. What is happening and why is this so? I do not recall seeing it before and I have used webroot or more then 1 year. Or it could be it happened so fast that it was not a issue previously. Please help
On a seperate note, I also am not able to install YTD downloader or free video convertor on a new notebook I have even though I have installed it on my other machines with webroot. Says it has a W32 gen virus or something. Is it a false positive? Please check. Thanks

Hi oliverpool
A belated welcome to the Community Forums.
Which browser are you experiencing this with and which version of the Web Filtering extension have you installed therein? The reason I ask is that there are currently moves afoot to revamp the web filtering extension. A new version is currently in beta, and I believe not far off being released generally, that is hoped will resolved such issues...swo rather than Opening a Support Ticket I would suggest that you hodl fire and see if the new version when relased sorts the issue out.
But, for the record, it would still be good to know your current version.
In terms of the YTD issue please take a look at this previous thread on the very same subject...hopefully it will provide you with all the guidance and information that you will need. But if not then please come back and advise how we can help you further.

The webroot extension version is 1.0.2.42.
I tried downloading YTD from the official site and it says pua trojan/virus alert. I do not understand why this keeps happening. Another system I have running Symantec did not flag the file as dangerous.

Welcome to the Community Forum,
May I confirm you are trying to download YouTube ? I'm not sure why Symantec doesn't flag this YTD.
According to my research this can be a threat .
YTDownloader or YTDownloader Virus is a browser plug-in which enables computer users to download YouTube videos and watch them on different devices, including phones and tables. The video downloader supports such formats as FLV, AVI, MP4, MOV, MP3, and MPEG. YTDownloader is presented as a valuable and useful application as the user can watch offline videos whenever he/she wants; however, it has been found that this application is not so good as it seems.
YTDownloader Virus is categorized as an adware application, which should be removed from the computer. It can be bundled with freeware or downloaded from the official website yt-downloader.com. Malware researchers have discovered that YTDownloader installs a browser helper object (BHO) and re-downloads it on a regular basis. Moreover, it has been observed that YTDownloader Virus can display pop-up advertisements, which may be related to your browsing sessions. This is so because YTDownloader Virus monitors what websites you visit and what items you are interested in. Ignore web banners, offers, and other forms of advertising and remove YTDownloader Virus from the PC.
Can you check with BrightCloud? Here is the KB here and to check the URL, please go here..
But Please issue a Support Ticket as advised if you are concerned.OK?
Please get back to us and let us know how you are doing.

Hi Sherry
I think that oliverpool is being confused. There is a genuine application called YTD Downloader as well as a PUA of a similar name that masquerades as such precisely to confuse people downloading the PUA as well as the genuine article.
Hi oliverpool
What you need to do is to attempt to download YTD Downlaoder from the author's or the official website and whilst doing that READ VERY CAREFULLY every item for which there is a check box or some sort of acknowledgement required. It is just possible that you are inadvertently saying 'Yes' to downloading something that looks like YTD the real application when in fact it is the PUA.
If you are unable to differentiate then go ahead with the download as best yo ucan and let WSA, as it is flagging an issue, deal with the PUS, i..e., once detected by WSA go into Quarantine to see if it has blocked any items, etc., but if there is nothing there then run a manual scan again just to make sure.
Finally, if you read through the previous thread that I linked to in my initial post you will see that is what the OP in that thread eventually had to do.
Hope that helps?
