I want my green webroot icon back on my laptop in the upper right hand corner. How can I do that? How do I access the secure anywhere menu where I can check for persistent status?? Thanks.

Hotels hacked, guest credit cards compromised

Webroot unsecurity. Lack of support (legal customer)

Details of 800,000 Orange Customers Compromised in Hack Attack

[b]On January 16, cybercriminals hacked into the systems of telecoms giant Orange. Orange representatives say that less than 3% of their customer base is impacted by the attack, more precisely around 800,000 individuals. Shortly after detecting the attack, Orange shut down the My Accounts page. Impacted individuals are being notified via email. Orange Technical Director Laurent Benatar has clarified that passwords have not been compromised, not even encrypted ones. The cybercriminals might have gained access to some partial financial information. Virus from www-dot-appround-dot-us

Whenever I go to the Intellicast.com weather site, a second tab pops up advising me to go to appround-dot-us and download something to make the PC run or stream faster. I use Webroot anti-virus, which immediately blocks any forced downloads, but I have a suspicion that something might have been downloaded that triggers the second tab to appear. I searched Control Panel, but couldn't find anything.   No issues when not using a browser, but I do get this pop-up when using either Firefox or Chrome. Forgot to mention that the pop-up tab takes me to this web site: www-dot-.mypcbackup-dot-com, by means of this URL:www-dot-lpcloudsvr302-dot-com/725A482A73486B6671742822343A614E.. Sometimes an ad for something called "Lightspark Player Pro" pops up in yet another tab. Has anyone here encountered this virus? Thanks, Roy

[spoiler] [/spoiler]  I am new to Webroot.  I used to be on the PC Tools Internet Security software, so Webroot seems rather simple compared to that.  I run a proprietary software program that I frequently cut and paste words from other programs into the proprietary program.  However, Webroot does not allow me to paste into my proprietary program.    I'm wondering if someone can tell me how to tell Webroot that my proprietary program is "okay."  Tech support for my proprietary program suggested I add the program to an "exceptions" list in Webroot, but I cannot find such a list.  Thanks,

Malicious Java app infects Mac, Linux systems with DDoS bot

 Criminals are once again using Java’s cross-platform design to add Linux and Mac users to their usual Windows target list, Kaspersky Labs researchers have discovered. Yahoo Detects Mass Hack Attempt On Yahoo Mail, Resets All Affected Passwords

Yahoo didn’t disclose how many accounts were affected, but we’ve asked for clarification and will update the post accordingly. It’s possible that they’ve yet to nail down an exact number. Given that it was enough to disclose the news in a public blog post, it’s presumably a non-trivial amount. The (sort of?) good news: it doesn’t appear that Yahoo’s own servers were compromised — instead, it looks like someone is firing off a bunch of login attempts using emails/passwords secured from an unnamed “third-party database compromise”. Experts Find 28 Security Issues in Oracle’s Java Cloud Service

Lan over powerline or wireless adapter?

Hey everyone!   I have a gigabit router and download speeds of 100Mbps (on a wired connection). I have a desktop that is 50 feet to the left and then one story higher than the router. I know I can't expect a full 100 down speed without being directly wired to the router, but which of these would give me a faster speed? The powerline adapter where one is plugged into the wall and router, and the second one is plugged into the wall and computer; or just a USB wireless N adapter?   Thanks :D   Shran

'ChewBacca' hackers targeted retailers in 11 countries

BOSTON (Reuters) - A cyber criminal ring targeting small retailers in 11 countries stole data on 49,000 payment cards using a malicious software known as "ChewBacca" before the operation was shut down, according to a cyber research firm. RSA Firs**bleep**ch disclosed the attacks on Thursday on its website. It said the firm's researchers uncovered the ring, whose victims included small companies in the United States, Russia, Canada and Australia. Malware Alert: Skype Missed Voice Message

More card-stealing malware found

Hot on the heels of the Target point of sale credit card breach, [url=https://blogs.rsa.com/rsa-uncovers-new-pos-malware-operation-stealing-payment-card-personal-information/]researchers at RSA have uncovered a botnet of credit card data-stealing malware running on point of sale systems.[/url] The actual bot code is called [url=https://www.securelist.com/en/blog/208214185/ChewBacca_a_new_episode_of_Tor_based_Malware]ChewBacca and was described in detail recently by Kaspersky Lab[/url]. As Kaspersky explains, ChewBacca communicates with it's C&C (Command and Control) server over the Tor network, obscuring the IP addresses of parties. According to RSA, this particular botnet has been collecting track 1 and 2 data of payment cards since October 25. The ChewBacca bot steals data from systems in two ways: It has a keylogger and it scans memory dumps it creates for credit card data. It communicates this data over the Tor network to a C&C. Multi-platform Java bot - make sure your Java is up to date

"Miscreants have brewed a multi-platform strain of malware capable of infecting Windows, Mac OS and Linux PCs.
