OneNote is a wonderful app for taking notes, maintaining lists, and more, but had to be purchased before adding it to your favorite computer, and was not available for Mac. But no longer! As of yesterday, Microsoft has made OneNote free for all Windows 7 and 8.x systems plus offered up a new version just for Mac OSX systems!

The Windows installer is a ‘dropper’ file approximately 1 MB in size and will download the needed files to install OneNote on your computer. The file for the Mac version of OneNote is 235 MB in size.

Microsoft to push OEMs to bundle OneNote with Windows 8.1 update 1

In the next couple of weeks, Microsoft is expected to release Windows 8.1 update 1 via Windows update. Seeing as Microsoft already posted the build to Windows update (twice), many of us have begun to play with the new features.
For OEMs, however, it looks like Microsoft is about to start pushing OneNote with new installs of the update.

In a document that was recently leaked that details the Windows 8.1 Update 1, or as the document refers to it as Windows 8.1 Update GDR, Microsoft will be pushing vendors to include OneNote with the update.

It's a good move to push vendors to include OneNote. 🙂
