We all have to, at some point, pick a career path in IT. Whether that be virtualization, networking, DBA, or whatever. How do you pick a path, and woudl you go back and do it differently?

I haven't quite made a definitive decision yet, as I'm still fairly young in my career. Here is some advice, or general guidelines, as to how you can pick one though.

Thanks,
A lot of it is a path of exploration.  Only the very lucky few know exactly what they want to do when they grow up from an early age.  In my case I stumbled into community management, which wasn't even a career when I was a child.
Exactly. It's a little luck and a lot of experimentation.
