The story about the use of tax haven strategies involves hundreds of people who used a law firm in the Philippinnes to evade taxes in their home country. While reading the story a banner appeared saying that this was a site that could infect my computer. Obviously the page was hacked which is not surprising since most company do not seem to care when that happens. The interesting thiong about the popup banner was that it was labeled as coming from WebRoot. I would like an explanation about that?
Do you have a screenshot of the banner? Normally if we block the page we do it in the main window, not in a popup. It could be someone impersonating our error messages.
No I do not have an ilustration. However, my corcen is how did the hacker know I was using Webroot? Something wrong there. I do not know when it was hacked but the site was ok within a few minutes. The IP was long and convoluted. The internet is an example of giving unbridled freedom to humans.
It could have been a coincidence, to be honest. If you want to contact support they can check the logs on your machine and see if we can get more information about exactly what happened.
