Are dropbox files scanned and protected?

Does Webroot scan and protect my dropbox files?

When installing webroot, it reported scanning 41,000 files. My DropBox alone has more than 114,000 files. That would seem to say my DropBox files are being ignored?

Thanks for your help.

Hi geneshack

Welcome to the Community Forms.

Files from Dropbox (or OneDrive or any such facility) will be scan as they arrive onto your system...what WSA will not do is scan the files over at Dropbox itself.

And remember that WSA is always on the look out for active malware or malware that activates on your system, rather than just dormant or inactive malware files...as dormant malware is no threat to anybody...until it tries to activate...and then SMASH...WSA will get it. ;)

The net effect of this approach is that WSA will seem to be scanning less fiels than other security apps or files that are on one's system...but it is only scanning those that need to be scanned so cutting down on usage of your system's precious resources.
