Webroot does not deal with cleaning the registry.

If you have to have a Registry Cleaner it's best to consider what Registry Cleaner is the safest to use with ones system...if any can be said to be safe per se.

 

The best advice that I can give, based on my own experience, is that you approach all of these apps with caution and certainly do not use them unless you have go a back up of your system, i.e., a fresh image made or of your data if you do not have the facility to image your system...or at the very least you create a System Restore point before you use any such app.

 

In terms of out and out Registry Cleaners, as opposed to general cleaning apps like CCleaner (as the latter clean more than just the Registry) Wise Registry Cleaner has quite a good reputation, as does the Auslogic Registry Cleaner from what I can tell and when I have used them they have caused me no issues.

 

Having said all that I repeat...please do be careful when using these sorts of apps.

I have to agree with Shery "completely" on this subject.

 

As for registry cleaning, you need to tread lightly.  You can get in trouble in a hurry and render your system unusable if you rely entirely on the feedback from registry cleaning programs regarding what to delete.  As for defragmentation there is much debate over the value such operations.  And yes, I have tried it.

 

I use the programs Sherry mentioned but you still are wise to take a good look at what they have flagged for deletion and make sure before you press "continue".  

 

If you have leftover application entries still in the registry you are better off to visit the official site for those apps and see if they provide a cleaner or instructions for manual removal of leftover items in the registry and files or folders.
