If I may add to what Sherry has posted...and to spell it out very clearly; WSA is an anti malware applciation (incidently, one of the best) and amonsgt other specific threats covered by the term 'Malware' is spyware, so 'Yes' WSA protects from spyware as well as many other threats.
Do you have a specific spyware-related threat in mind? And if so then please post so that we can advise on that specific point.
