Hello se4g4e, Welcome to the Webroot Community.

There are no settings to scan email. However, if you receive an infected attachment and run it, WSA-C should give you an alert.
TY.  Been having trouble with my email and wondered if some setting in Webroot could be behind it.  Doesn't seem likely, since Webroot doesn't interact with the email client.
Hi se4g4e

Welcome to the Community Forums.

If I may interject here?  There is one way to find out and that would be to uninstall WSA and see if the issue goes away when WSA is not installed.  If you do decide to do that and, whehter or not there is a change or not, then it would be advisable to carry out a Clean re-install of WSA.

To do this please follow these instructions carefully:

  • Make sure you have a copy of your Keycode
  • KEEP the computer online for Uninstall and Reinstall to make sure it works correctly
  • Download a copy here (Best Buy Subscription PC users click here)
  • Uninstall WSA and Reboot
  • Install with the new installer, enter your Keycode and do not import any previous settings if the installer offers them; you can set it up as you like once it's done
  • Let it finish its install scan
  • Reboot once again
Then see if you have the issue again.  If you do, i.e., with WSA (and not when it is not installed) then you may need to contact Support for assistance.

If your subscription is directly through Webroot, you will need to contact Webroot Support.  You can do so by submitting a Trouble Ticket if you have not already done so, or by phone during business hours.  (The online Ticketing system is manned 24/7)

If you are US-based & your subscription is through Best Buy Subscription Software services, you may need to call them at 1-800-GEEK-SQUAD.

Please do let us know what you decide to do and what the results are, eitherway.

Regards, Baldrick
Thanks. Further info: I'm using Thunderbird, and the problem started when I updated it to the latest revision. No problem before that. I'll go ahead and try your suggestion above.
Hi se4g4e

Well, that is interesting as I am running T'bird v31.3.0 and am experiencing no issues with email whatsoever.  Do you have any specific examples/situations that you are able to share, and that I might give a try to see if I can replicate here?

When I try to send email with attachment get the following error:

"Sending of message failed.

The message could not be sent because the connection to SMTP server mail.wavecable.com timed out. Try again or contact your network administrator."

Specifically trying to send.jpg attachment. Works fine for receiving attachments and sending/receiving email without attachments.
Hi se4g4e

If you Google the "The message could not be sent because the connection to SMTP server mail.wavecable.com timed out. Try again or contact your network administrator" part of the message and pick the first result it give you should find some interesting information on your issue.

Do let us know if that helps?

Regards, Baldrick
