Yes facebook is on going but the download link would come from Webroot right? I don't use facebook so I haven't checked that out let's see if @ can explain more?

Thanks,

I was just looking in Facebook for the Free 6 Month Trial that had previously been offered through Facebook and Webroot.  It appears that this offer has now expired.

Perhaps a Webrooter can confirm that the Facebook Offer is no longer in force?

Le Sigh...

I have windows 8.1 x64 and have Windows Explorer running at 292.1 MB as well. I exited Webroot and when I pull task manager and restart Windows Explorer, it goes back to 20.6 MB.  :(  Thought this was fixed ages ago??

After restarting Webroot, Windows Explorer's RAM use didn't go up.  Weird...
I am on Windows 8.1 now and my explorer.exe is using 287 MB

I don't see that as abnormal to be honest.

PS: I have 32 GB RAM
Hi MaXimus

That is definitively way over the top IMHO...as under the 32bit version I am hard pushed to get explorer.exe over the 50Mb mark...I am running with just 2Gb RAM...care to sub me some of yours? ;)

As Quoted by it's being worked on:

We're still investigating this but the higher Explorer RAM is allocated by Windows in such a way that it will not impact system performance in any measurable or noticeable capacity. If you're experiencing any system performance degradation, I suggest writing into our support team so that they can inspect your logs and correct the issue.

Reboot does not solve the problem of memory consumption

Same, explorer.exe -> ~ 300Mb

Clearing memory ASC solves the problem, in the future explorer.exe is OK.(before reset)

It's still on the list to be fixed and Joe is asking for logs from users of Windows 8.1 x64 to report, the more information the better for them to find a fix. They will give you a link to there Log Gathering Tool so you can Run & Upload the logs!

Send to webroot support

Thanks you.
Yeah, I'm not running a memory cleaner.  I dont have to.  Here's what fixes it temporarily (until next boot when I have to do it again)

Boot comp (win 81 x64)

shut down webroot

restart Windows Explorer

turn on webroot.

Problem doesn't come back until I reboot again.

Hmmm
Hi @ can you Submit a Support Ticket so that they can get some logs from your system also?

Thanks,

Daniel

I have tried that system analyzer as well and it shows the same memory leak as in your pic. But not the possible handle leak.
@

Your method doesn't work on my system.

It is strange that this leak is only on Win 8.1 64 bit version.
Just read there is a new version namely: 8.0.4.63. Haven't seen it on my trial version though.

Hopefully this explorer.exe bug can be pinpointed soon enough (i think it's known for a couple of months now?).

Does every version of Webroot have the same issue on Win 8.1 64 bit?

Yes it on the list still as Joe mentioned before https://community.webroot.com/t5/Webroot-SecureAnywhere-Antivirus/Explorer-exe-using-up-to-300mb-RAM/m-p/82185#M5268 also if you like you can download and install over top and reboot to get .63 as it does take a few days to roll out to everyone. http://anywhere.webrootcloudav.com/zerol/wsainstall.exe

Just a question of another order. The firewall, is it build in in every version of Webroot or do you need the Internet Security or Complete version for that? And what is so different about the gamer version?
Hi Nask

How is it going?

Yes, the Firewall is built into all versions of WSA...please see this comparison for more information on the difference between the 3 main versions.

And this page with regards to the features of the Gamer version...but if I recall the main difference is that the feature set includes the System Optimizer which is not included in the AV version.  But I am sure I will be corrected if that is inaccurate or if I have missed something. ;)

Hope that helps?

Regards
