Webroot reports no active threats, meanwhile our daughter cannot use the computer for homework.
Hello jackpc2, welcome to the Webroot Community.

Your problem would not appear to be at all related to Webroot or any malware: for some reason your Windows registration/keycode is not currently correctly activated with Microsoft.

Please read all of the error message, including how to fix the problem.  You might be able to simply re-enter your Windows key code, or you may need to call Microsoft Support for assistance with this.

You may need to take the same steps for your copy of Office as well.

Hello shorTcircuiT!

Wasn't there a Micorsoft update a long time ago referring to this problem of Windows not being Genuine?:@

Hello shorTcircuT!

I am not sure...  I never had the problem under Windows Vista.  I do not upgrade my own computer very often, so it is only within the last year or so that I upgraded to Windows 7.  I have had no such problems here.

There was a Microsoft Update, last year I think,  that caused major problems with some versions of Pre-Installed Office 2010.  As I recall Dell computers with Office 2010 pre-installed had the Office software lock out as not registered or no genuine.  Microsoft did, of course, issue a patch to fix that bug fairly quickly, but it was a bit of a mess for a week or so.

I do not recall offhand any bug like that in which the Windows key code / genuineness was in question.

@ Can you give an opinion/help on this?
There's nothing I can add you guys got all things covered did you get your PC fixed somewhere and do you if your version of Windows is Genuine?

Thanks,

Daniel 😉
