Hello everyone!
I am brand new to webroot but am an IT professional so I'm very tech savvy and have used lots of anti-virus products.
I downloaded the webroot free trial and was loving it! So much so I went ahead and bought a 2 year license for 3 devices. When I bought the 2 year license it sent me an email saying download and install using wsainstall.exe and it will prompt me for my new license key.
So I fully uninstalled the trial, then downloaded and installed the wsainstall.exe
Ever since doing this my Chrome extension that the webroot trial installed has stopped working. It was a link scanner that verifies all links (in a google search for example) and puts green checkmarks next to them to indicate they are "safe". After installing the "full version" suddenly where the green checkmarks were are just spinning circles, they eventually turn into just gray circles.
I thought let me try and remove the extension and hopefully it adds itself back in. I removed it, restarted browser, nothing, restarted computer, no difference I open webroot and try to turn off the webshield then turn it back on, no difference.
It's definitely not scanning my links anymore, when I was on the free trial I went and tested eicar.org to see if it would catch a link to a "fake" virus. When I was on the trial it immediately caught the link and my browser turned red saying WARNING, BAD LINK (paraphrasing). Now I can go there and download the virus just fine, it sits on my drive, then some 5 minutes later the local scanner does detect it as a virus. This is WAY more dangerous than before where it caught it before downloading.
So my question is, does anyone know how I can get the webroot chrome extension that scans links BACK? I've even tried completely uninstalling and reinstalling this new full version, it acts like it doesn't even have the extension?!
Thanks for your help,
Tim

Thanks for the fast reply! Interesting, I was looking at this extension in the chrome store but I thought for sure it was fake or something. Just based on the reviews and no screenshots I thought it was some other company haha. I guess webrootscm is really the official group.
OK great thanks!

It does seem to work but it makes me a bit worried that there are so many negative reviews on it saying it is "slow". Just out of curiosity what is the alternate way of doing it? Or do you mean an alternate way of installing the extension?
I have worked with security products a good bit and know many of them use the "cloud" for their scans. I see many people seem to say this extension is slow and maybe related to that. I'm betting they may be wrong haha.
I wonder what you think about it, is it reliable and fast as far as you know?
Thanks again!

Hi microtech,
Yes I was talking about a work around for the Webfilter extension encase the toolbar did not work.
Here is what we tell users: When or if this slow down occurs on a system then to check that one would temporarily shutdown protection (right click on WSA notification tray icon and select 'Shutdown protection' and follow the instruction), and then try the sites you tried before once more to see if there is a difference. If there is then we would suggest a uninstall/clean resintsall of WSA Or contact support to look into this issue.Mostly there might be a complaint with spinning circles when trying to load webpages.
I have not had any slow downs myself and I run FF, Chrome and IE.

Hello ?,
Remember I told you there was a work around for the Webfilter install? Well the Webfilter link I gave you is an old Webfilter from November.
Would you have a look at this Thread by TripleHelix. Which will explain the Drag and Drop work around for you to get the latest Webfilter. It's really easy to do.
