Let's turn off Window Defender - please refer me to the page that shows this.

Hello MsDeeDub10 and welcome to the Community. If you get yourself to the Control Panel click on Windows Defender and disable it. Or alternately you can type Windows Defender into the search box and open Windows defender when it pops up! If this doesn't work, see post below!
.................and alternately as Baldrick reminded me (Thanx Solly) click windows/settings/update & Security/Windows Defender/click off!
Here is what I do with Windows Defender. Please respond back if I'm not correct in my handling of it.
On the Windows Defender site, it will indicate that the Real Time Protection is " Handled by another AV protection."
It indicates that because I have Webroot as my main Internet Security.
Windows Defender shows the " Virus & Spyware Definitions "...Windows Defender will update their own version of Viruses and Spyware Definitions. Their latest update is 1.231.1362.0 and it was created on 11/07/2016 and automatically updated on 11/07/2016. This actually updates itself every other day or so.
Where Windows Defender shows their " Scan Options " they indicate a Quick Scan...a Full Scan... and a Custom Scan.
Now, is it redundant to keep Windows Defender " Virus & Spyware Definitions " up to date even though I have Webroot or should I always update the Windows Defender Definitions ?
About every other week I run the Windows Defender Full scan. Don't ask me why I do it..I just do. So far when I do run the full scan, it always comes back as " no threats found ". That just shows me that Webroot has been doing its job 24/7 and is keeping my computer safe and sound.

Hi ROBERT1725
Hope that you are well?
There is nothing wrong with what you are suggestng and the use of WD as a second opinion scanner is not a bad idea as its efficacity has been improving over recent months and it is now rather well rated by some.
Indeed, one can now keep active & run WD in conjunction with a 3rd party AM/AV/IS, and I believe that very soon it will be getting a major face lift & improved fucntionality.
But as you say...with WSA one is perfectly well covered in terms of daya to day use of ones system.
Regards, Baldrick
