Hi dlagronio
Welcome to the Community Forums.
I would certainly be wary of calling "a cisco tech at a company in NJ who could rid my pc of the infection for $300"...as this smells like a scam to me.
Do you use WSA (Webroot SecureAnywhere) and have a currently active subscription? Well if so then you are entitled to free techncial support from the Webroot Support Team in relations related to security, etc.
GIven what you have said the best thing to do is to Open a Support Ticket ASAP, so they can investigate these strange goings on and decide what assistance you require to get your system back to normal.
