Could I have a virus in my modem, I cannot get my CD's to work when inserted?

I don't think you would have a virus. Have you done a scan with Webroot or has Webroot confirmed a virus or not?
What version of Windows are you running? You can always check for updates for your CD drive. Or you can uninstall your CD drive in the Device Manager and then scan for changes and Windows will reinstall your drive again. Sometimes uninstalling/reinstalling the driver will make it work again.
If you feel you might have a virus then you can always Submit a Support Ticket which is free of charge with a Webroot subscription and they can check this out for you.
