I cannot scan my computer. The scanning screen shows 'Scanning for malware' , 0%, 1sec. The scanner was working all right earlier today. The problem started when I used my Chrome browser, I noticed a sudden change in my screen and then my browser worked all right, but when I went to scan my computer later the scanner did not work at all.

So you are saying webroot isn't scanning for you? Or are you referring to a malware scanner? If Webroot isn't scanninng then I recomend this below.
Can you please do a clean reinstall of WSA and Please follow the steps closely!
- Make sure you have a copy of your Keycode
- KEEP the computer online for Uninstall and Reinstall to make sure it works correctly
- Download a Copy Here (Best Buy Subscription PC users click HERE)
- Uninstall WSA and Reboot
- Install with the new installer, enter your Keycode and don't import any settings as you can set it up as you like once it's done
- Let it finish it's install scan
- Reboot once again
Please let us know if that resolves your issue? If not then we will look at alternative avenues to try and solve this for you.

Welcome to the Community Forums.
That is not at all right and I would recommend that you make sure that WSA is properly installed, by downloading a new version of the installer (NON Best Buy from here, Best Buy version from here, in both cases for the PC version). Then make sure that you have your keycode handy, and uninstall WSA, REBOOT, install using the new installer (making sure not to import any previous settings if the installer offers), and then REBOOT again.
Now try a scan and see if the same issue persists? Either way do come back and let us know...and if you are still having the issue we will see what else we can suggest.
