cont with my question...when you have two internet security oon your pc (norton & WEBROOT anywhere) they will

cancel each other out ....leaving me without any security system to block threats, viruses and other nasty bugs that

screw up you pc operations. what's the real ? thanks .....
Hello there, welcome to the Webroot Community!

No.. that is not at all correct.  Here is the deal, but please read EVERYTHING.

1. With most AV solutions, when you have more than one active at the same time, they will not "cancel each other out" leaving you defenseless. It is a bit more complicated than that.  What they will do is tend to end up working against each other in a way that can slow your computer down to the point of being unusable, or cause errors.  You would be quite protected at the expense of a VERY slow or unstable PC.

2. WSA is DIFFERENT.  It was designed to be compatible with other AV solutions.  While there is one known incompatibility issue, it is not with Norton.  WSA and Norton can actually work together just fine.

Many of the users here on the Community, however, tend to feel that there is no need to use more than one AV solution in an active state at the same time.  That is my own opinion on the matter.  That being said, there are many who DO use WSA along with another solution.

I think one thing you will find if you are having computer slow down issues is not so much that WSA and Norton are causing issues with each other is simply that Norton is a much larger and memory instensive solution.  That by itself will slow a computer, especially an older one, down significantly.

thank you shorTcircuiT, regarding two internet security systems...you are the man...It's was a coincidence that I first purchased Norton

system in Nov 2013 for 2yrs... and two mons later i got a new pc

and the store downloaded

WebROOT onto my new pc as a package deal.
Well, with that being said... if the computer is handling Norton without being overly slow.. .WSA will not cause it to slow down any additional.  While Norton is going to take a bite out of a new computer too, most of the time you will not notice it as much as on a 3 or 4 year old machine.

With machines that new, especially if they are fairly high end instead of bargain basement, you probably are quite OK with either route you choose: One, or both 🙂
