Hello,

How well are we protected against this "new and improved" ransomware that Kim Komando wrote about recently?

Thank you

Jerry
Hi jer1082

Welcome to the Community Forums.

WSA does protect the user pretty well againstg ransomware attacks but what we cannot say here if it cover this particular one. Having said that we do know that the Webroot Development Team actively develop the product and issue updates to improve and keep ahead of the malware writers.

Perhaps ? would be able to give us some information in relation to this query?

That article refers to the TeslaCrypt authors fixing a flaw in the malware that allowed tools to be created that could decrypt the encrypted files in some cases. It was only a matter of time before this flaw was corrected, and it should come as no surprise to anyone that the ransomware was updated to fix this.

We are constantly improving our detection for ransomware, including these new variants.
