I recently made a purchase financed by Chase Bank. Because of the data breach information posted on Yego Piatnitski's blog on Oct. 6, 2014, I'm reluctant to set up an online account with Chase to make my payments. Is my concern justified?
Hello and Welcome to the Webroot Community!

Did you give Chase Bank a call to see what they say as that would be best to hear from the horses mouth right?

Thanks,

Daniel 😉
Hi Webrooters!

I called Chase Bank beings as I have accounts with them and they acted like there wasn't anything wrong and wouldn't provide any details so I was left to change passwords and that's it. It's in there court if trouble stirs with my account. They also said I have nothing to worry about. That was a month ago.

Regards,

There really is no good answer we can provide on that here.  At this point, you just have to trust them or not...

One thing of my own personal opinion.  This is my opinion ONLY, and has no basis in fact and I cannot promise anything.  GIven the huge breach, Chase is likely to be really tightening things down.  It may be more secure now than they have ever been.  But then again.... new exloits are found every day, and every new software patch brings the possibility of a new security hole.

But that is true of ALL banks... Chase is just like any other bank.  They are ALL being constantly probed for a weakness...
