Last week my Lock Screen locked. When my computer starts up it takes multiple attempts at pressing the enter button to get it to go away so I can log in. Other problems started at the same time: I can't save downloads to files and I can't pull menu bars down to access files. Simple key commands: Ctrl C will not copy but it does make my screen larger. I am running Windows 8.1 on a Toshiba Satillite L875. Inte (R) Core(TM) i3-310M CPU @ 2.40 GHz . Is there help for my computer or should I start looking for a new one?

Hello bizzibee,
Sounds like you have your hands full. Have you tried a System Recovery? Not sure if this is hardware related.
EDIT
Can you tell me how old your laptop is?
Best Regards,

Hi bizzibee
I would try running SFC (System File Checker) and if that failed to find and resolve any corrupted system firls that you may have then I would go straight to running a non-destructive reinstall of Windows 8.1 (I can provide a link to a good & reputable web site that will guide you through the process; if interested in considering that and finding out more then please PM me).

I haven't tried a systems recovery, I'm not sure how to begin. My laptop is 2 1/2 years old.
Hello bizzibee,
Would you try running SFC at the run/command as shown here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833
Try this first then we will see if we need to do a System Restore.
Please get back to us and let us know how it's going and if you need more help!
