Hello kbrownmp, and Welcome.
What operating system is it? Have you tried advice here for example? http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/troubleshoot-problems-installing-updates
Not sure if a Restore would cure it, see: System Restore Windows
For more protection, use System Restore with Backup and Restore, which is designed to help safeguard email, pictures, documents, and other personal files.
Were updates installing ok previously, when did it start? Which particulsr updates?
Please let us know if you have questions and info.
