I just bought a new key code maybe an hour ago or so and put it into my webroot program, it said it was now activated but when I clicked on webroot it was still red and the subscription said "expired".  So I restarted my computer but it's still the same.

The realtime sheild is on, web sheild is on, firewall is on... When I check for updates it says I'm using the newest software and it automatically updates and no longer downloads threat definitions and it's done in the cloud.

At the top of the program window it says "Protected" in red with a red "!" and the bottom insists my subscription is expired and is asking me to renew...

I don't know if this matters but I upgraded my windows from windows8 to windows10 almost a year ago...

I'm also pretty sure I have a virus I think is reffered to as the blue screen virus scam that plays an annoying voice saying your computer has a virus and you need to call this number to purchase a virus removal... That's why I renewed webroot to get rid of that blue screen virus scam but when I ran a scan nothing was found, which is shocking to me because I've had nothing protecting my computer for nearly a year. So inspite renewing webroot I believe the webroot program is still not functioning properly.

Should I try to "reinstall" via the "Request software & keycode" page?

Also, when i bought my computer at best buy I had a choice between a few protection programs and I chose webroot, they opened the package and put the webroot disk in and installed it for me. I have that same disk still. But I renewed webroot through the "renew now" button on the main page of the program. I assume this means I renewed through webroot and not best buy even if they were the ones to install the program when I bought this computer a few years ago. I assume I basically bought the program at best buy and they installed it for me, that's it. I didn't sign up for any renewal services with best buy or anything.

I've had this program for three years or so and according to the program it has done 489 scans and only found 16 threats. I don't have any other protection programs so webroot is really the only thing between me and malware. 16 doesn't seem like much.
Hi Solveig

Welcome to the Community Forums.

I supect that the message is coming from you 'old' or previous keycode. Buying and entering a new keycode (a pseudo renewal) rather than adding more time to your existing keycode (a real renewal) does not terminate the 'old' or previous keycode, but rather the old and new run in parallel until 30 days after the actual expiry date when the 'old' keycode has run through the renewal grace period allowed.

Therefore I suspect that you will continue to get these messages until the aforementioned grace period on the 'old' keycode has expired unless you Open a Support Ticket and ask the Support Team if they would cancel your 'old' keycode.

I hope that helps?

Regards, Baldrick
