I am constantly gettting "no response messages" from various websites, system not running smoothly, sound like a virus?

No not really, an infection stopping you getting online means that it cant steal your info or download more malware. Its not what they do normally.
To add to what has been said already, I do have a question or two.
Are you using WiFi? If so, you may want to review the location of your WiFi router. I do get these messages often when on the internet, and the cause is simply that my WiFi Range Extender is having problems. If your device is too far away from your WiFi router, you may need to either move the router, the device, or consider using a Range Extender.
Even though WiFi routers may come with an advertised range well over what you think you need, remember that this range is true 'line of sight'. This simply means how far, at the FARTHEST, the router can work from your device with NOTHING in between them. Once you add any walls, furniture, floors, etc the actual working range drops quite a bit.
I hope this helps?
