Hi, today I went into Revo Uninstall Pro and noticed Webroot in the new programs. It was listed as being installed on 03/08 (ver. 8.0.4.66). I was not informed of the update and it came as a complete surprise when I saw it in Revo. I think there should be some kind of notification of updates. Thanks.

You may prefer to de-select "Automatically Download and Apply Updates": Webroot Secure Anywhere Context Help
Also, there may be a case for additional User Notifications, please see: https:///t5/Ideas-Exchange/Better-User-Notification-of-updates-changes-etc/idi-p/63979

This might be a bug update.
I would not recommend that IMHO Dermot.@ wrote:

It's not a bug update Ryan WSA updates in a flash quietly unless you have another program that let's you know there is an update like VoodooShield & Look'N'Stop Firewall as it lets you know the program has changed so you can allow it. Also silent updates are great for average users all they care about that it's up to date!@ wrote:

I would not think of turning off the auto updates, the only thing I would like, is to be informed of the WR major updates.
Then follow Demot's second suggestion. https://community.webroot.com/t5/Webroot-SecureAnywhere-Antivirus/secret-update/m-p/88696#M5618
And every update is a major update and it only takes a few seconds to update.

Indeed, neither would I, but some users (for various reasons), may prefer to get a manual update (e.g. having waited to check Release Notes). Not that I've ever seen WSA interfere with anything, even when updating.
I would not, will not turn off the auto updates. I want to get the updates as soon as they become available. All I am saying is, I feel that there should be at least a 'ballon notification' from the webroot icon on the task panel after a major update. It must have been a very major update for Revo to list it as a new program, it is also listed in the control panel, programs and features, as having been installed on March 8. I might be wrong, but it sounds as if WR deleted the old program and installed the new version. Again, all I'd like to see is some kind of notification. Thanks.
Thanks triple i'll look at the update changelog before saying its a bug update sorry.
and btw, unlike what you said that you should be notified of the updates, that's the beauty of WSA, is it silently updates in the background so it won't bother you. it's like set it and forget it
Hi rd52
Appreciate the frustration but the only way you stand a chance of getting what you are after is to bring it to the attention of the Development Team...and Daniel advised how to do that in post 7 above. May I, humbly and respectfully, suggest that you follow that advice? :D
Regards, Baldrick

To me all updates are Major in a sense and show in my Revo Pro always but I keep track of updates.@ wrote:

Absolutely rd62...I fully understand and agree with you, about both having Auto-updates enabled, and, preferably receiving a notification that an update is available etc. ;)@ wrote:

All I was making clear at first was that, at present, the only way of avoiding finding an 'unexpected' update installed would be to uncheck auto-update.
We should probably both add our support to Baldrick's Idea in Ideas Exchange.
All the best,
Dermot
