Hello,

I keep getting a pop up message saying to install webroot extension installer. When I click to install it, I get asked if I trust this site because the extension can get my personal information and change my computer information.  Is this from webroot or a virus?  Should I download it?

Thank you,

LS
Hello lins, welcome to the Webroot Community!

That sounds like it is indeed the legit Webroot browser extension.  What it does is to check URL's before your browser loads the page to block sites that are known to be malicious.  Quite handy indeed.  Go ahead and download it.

If you have any remaining questions or worries, after the extensions are downloaded and installed, go into your browser settings and check to see what extensions are installed.  This is a good thing to do regularly anyway to make sure that your browser does not have extensions installed and active that you do not like.
I would first check if the site is legit and is genuine (from http://www.webroot.com) or where ever it is installed from!  Check all that stuff out and let us know here in the Community!

Hi lins

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Would you please provide us with the exact text of the popup message you are referring to, together with any options offered to the user, plus the browser the message is being displayed in...as the message displayed should vary depending on the browser used.

Many thanks in anticipation.

Regards, Baldrick

A screenshot of the pop up message would be helpful to determine if the extension is indeed from WSA or not.
It says install web shield and then pops up with the file extension. When I look in my webroot web shield is on so I don't know how to do a screen shot, the message appears when it wants not any specific time. How should I find it when it pops up with the webroot name?
