Hello everyone, at a loss at the moment... had an older laptop in storage for awhile. Had a broken screen which I usually just wired to the tv... decided to fix it and boost the RAM while I had it apart... never had any problems with it before.. so I do the repairs and everything turns out fine.. system wants to do a run on it and determins I have a threat on it... c:NOVADIGMMANAGEMENTNVDKIT.EXE
Do it asks me to quarantine it or ignore, I chose to quarantine it... says it has to do a reboot and to close out all my files. It then proceeds to do the restart, but then never does the starting up again...? I tried the power button, only flashes the yellow lightning bolt.... like the battery is dead and needs to charge, but doesn't light up (charge mode) when I plug in the charger... nothing, tried both chargers I have for it and nothing. Was reading about this exe on Google and wondering if I took out a main process or what?? 1/2 the pages say it's a program file while the other half claim it's a trojan.... not sure what to do???? Any help would be greatly appreciated !!!! Computer brand a D model are HP Compaq 6710b if that helps.. thanks again in advance !!!!

Hello ?,
Welcome to the Webroot Community,
Are you able to get into the BIOS? It doesn't sound like it from your description. You said you added RAM. Have you checked to be sure that it's seated correctly? The ribbon cable for the screen? Have you tried starting the laptop without the battery while plugged-in?
Sorry, I'm just not sure. I've never heard of malware completely taking down a laptop so that it can't even power up (that doesn't mean it hasn't happened) it just sounds more like a hardware problem to me.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Maybe others will see this post and give their thoughts. :)
