Can I temporarily change my MS login for work on my computer for service work?
Hi jrewbrt,

Welcome to the Webroot Community.

For information on changing your Microsoft password please see HERE.

As far as changing a work computer, you may not have the required permissions and may need to contact your IT administrator.

Hope this info helps,

Thank you for your reply, however, I want to be able to return to the previous password once service work is done.  The computer I am getting service done on is my wifes.  She doesn't do well remembering passwords so I don't want to give up the one she uses now nor do I want to make it available to service technicians.
Hi jrewbrt,

I believe that Windows 10 will not let you recycle old passwords (ridiculous, I know) But I have seen some users posting that after changing the password 10 times it will let you revert back to and older password (not one of the 10 you use to do this, though) I know this seems tedious, but it's the only option I've seen. I also have not tested this myself so I can't confirm that it will work. The only other thing I can think of would be to return the PC to a local account (new password) and then, after service, going back to an MS login, I don't know, however, if you will have to choose a new password on reverting back, but I wouldn't think so. However, if you've already changed the password then this option won't help.

Hope this info helps,
